I Don't Know What It's Like To Reunite With Friends From High School Over Break

As a senior in college, long gone are the days that I look forward to returning home on breaks to see my friends.

I Don't Know What It's Like To Reunite With Friends From High School Over Break

Growing up, I never really had a close group of friends that I did everything with back home. I had a few friends, but these tended to change over the years, especially when we all went our separate ways in college. It became exhausting trying to keep up with these people, and honestly, we just hit that point where we all became too different. College had changed us. and that was okay. I have my one best friend from high school and really that's all I need. My life is now at Penn State, so breaks are not all that eventful for me.

So what am I looking forward to this Thanksgiving break?

The best thing about breaks for me is simply that, the fact that it's a break from my busy college life. What's even better about Thanksgiving break specifically is that it's the break where I don't work at Wegmans. I have the whole week to do whatever I want. I can do as much or as little as I want to without having to worry about going to work.

I also like the fact that it's only a week. It's a long enough period of time to go home and see my family without hitting that point where I am bored out of my mind. Not having many friends at home doesn't leave me with a ton of options for curing my boredom. This is especially challenging when my best friend and I have conflicting work schedules. It can be hard to find fun things to do in my area as well with us having to rely on trips to Philly to have a good time.

I am excited to see my family though. I am really close with them and living alone this year, I have not been going home as much to visit them. I miss the comforts of my own home, my mom's cooking, my bed, etc. Soon I will be able to enjoy all of these simple things again, and I can not wait!

I know to some people this may sound really lame, but honestly, it is just what I need right now. Senior year has been super stressful with graduation and everything approaching so quickly. I am so worried about finding a job and maintaining good grades all while finding time to enjoy the lasts of college with my friends. I need some time off. Some time to just take a deep breath and remind myself that things will work out.

Luckily, by this time next week, I will already be en route to Souderton, PA. I have no more exams to take before then, so it is smooth sailing for me...the end is near and I am currently counting down the days until I am reunited with my family!

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
