You probably know of this one show that everyone seems to talk about, but you just can't get into. Yeah, that's right. "Doctor Who."
It's a show from BBC, or the United Kingdom and their broadcasting network. It's been on air for almost 52 years now, with some bumps along the way. It's a continuous story as well, although many people have only watched the episodes since 2005.
But this show isn't everything that it seems. You might know it as a show that has all these different characters and is famous for being very, very confusing. The thing is, it's so much more than that.
It's about an alien who looks human and who can live for hundreds and hundreds of years. The secret to him living so long is he is able to change his appearance and personality in a burst of energy. He travels through space and time and different dimensions and the whole known universe having adventures. He travels in a machine that looks like a blue telephone box. He picks up friends along the way, but always battles constant sadness because of the danger he puts them in and the inevitable—that one day they will die or leave him, and he will be left alone again, constantly wandering.
This show is a kaleidoscope of emotions.
It's terrifying.
It's comical.
It can be heartbreaking and sad.
But it also can be joyful.
This show can teach you so many good morals.
I can't tell you the number of times that I've gotten goosebumps. I've cried watching it. I've gasped. I'm not an easily affected person. It's just this fantastic, epic adventure story and is actually considered more of a drama than a science fiction show.
So, maybe this is what you're thinking now.
And maybe you're considering watching it. Maybe you've realized everything you've been missing in this show.
Or you could just be very done with me, if you've made it this far reading.
But in all reality, give it a try. You don't know what you might be missing. There's a lot of episodes, but it's such an engaging story. I promise you'll at least be a little intrigued, if not sucked in entirely.
So goodbye! You could tune in on September 19 at 9 p.m. to watch the show, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're new. You have a lot of catching up to do!
