It is no surprise to TCU students that Trevone Boykin is a front-runner to receive the Heisman Trophy this year. What may be less well known is that Josh Doctson has joined him on the list of nominees, and with his continuously incredible performances, will have no problem catching up to his teammate in the rankings.

This past weekend, TCU celebrated Homecoming with a game against the University of Texas. The weekend was complete with festivities like a birthday party for Superfrog and FrogFest, but the main attraction was the Nissan Heisman House. After two days of construction, it opened its doors on Oct. 2 to a crowd of students and visitors from both TCU and UT. Hosted by ESPN sportscaster Neil Everett, visitors were able to meet-and-greet with two former TCU football players who had stellar careers during their time at TCU. LaDainian Tomlinson and Jake Kirkpatrick experienced their own kind of homecoming when they returned to their alma mater to meet the masses this weekend. Visitors were also able to have their picture taken with the trophy.

The Heisman Trophy was first awarded in 1935, but it wasn't until the following year that it was given the name to honor John W. Heisman, who was a legendary player and coach. In its 79 years, only one TCU athlete has received the trophy: Davey O'Brien. In 1938, O'Brien was the senior quarterback under the coaching of Dutch Meyer. He led this team to an undefeated season and a national championship title. At 5'7" and 151 pounds, he remains the smallest player to ever win the Heisman.

After last year's incredible performance by our Horned Frogs and the possibilities this season holds, TCU's chances to bring the trophy home are pretty great. Both Boykin and Doctson have already had outstanding performances this season and promise to bring more passion and excitement to the field. So let's show them how excited we are, too. Anyone can cast their vote for their Heisman favorite by going to promo.espn.go.com. According to Heisman.com, "The 2015 Heisman Finalists will be announced on Monday, December 7, 2015 via a live announcement on ESPN tentatively scheduled for 6:00PM EST," and "The ESPN televised announcement of the 2015 Heisman Winner will take air beginning at 8:00PM EST on Saturday, December 12, 2015."

Let's go, Frogs!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
