Nintendo has recently revealed a whole new console in the hope of reversing its long-term recession. Even after the launch of its 2012 Wii U, many people would agree that Nintendo has made some of the most beloved games and consoles that have stuck with us since the late 1970s. If you haven't done so already, check out the official trailer for the new Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch system enables gamers to play on-the-go as well as at home. Its a handheld and portal device that is able to detach in console and controller. After the trailer was released, it was able to capture audiences from around the world. One thing that stood out in particular from the trailer was not only the technological advances of the Nintendo Switch, but the games made available for it. For instance, the first shown was The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (which was supposed to appear in Wii U but delayed twice), Mario Kart, and Splatoon.
We can presume there will be more classic Nintendo game editions as well. For example Harvest Moon, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, and many more. However, the footage also featured Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and 2K Sports' NBA 2K17 that would be on the new system as well. At first it caught me off guard because these third-party developers haven't even confirmed these titles. But they're collaborating with Nintendo so maybe putting the trailer out there early would bring more revenue.
Many news outlets reached out to Nintendo for more information on its collaboration with other publishers/developers and apparently the company will be announcing more details on the console before its debut in March.
"I feel like its a good thing that they're adding more game collaborations for the switch, knowing how horrible the Wii U did, this may be a good thing to do that will help it become popular," said Peter Collazo.
Many gamers would agree that Nintendo hasn't lived up to its expectations after the Wii U was developed. The older versions of Nintendo and new have given off a sense of nostalgia for many gamers and re-releasing games in better quality for that purpose.
"The Switch is a great idea, but will never be as successful as Nintendo's predecessors. Skyrim in 4k looks sick and the resolution seems awesome and on the go," said Troy Gungor. "Until we get a full specification list of the game pad we can only hope."
After asking local gamers about their thoughts on the new system and how they felt about the edition of third party developers, it was diverse in opinion as to whether the game would prevail overall. For the most part there is a more positive feel about the system as a whole.
