Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3 begins from June 12 to 14, 2018, in the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. This is one of the biggest events for gamers and game companies to come under one roof to announce major game developments, whether it's a sequel to a popular game or a brand new console to compete with the Nintendo Switch.
What first started as a trade show for games and other product developers in the 1990s, became one of the most anticipated events in the game culture. This year marks the expo's 24th year and still growing strong.
Last year, E3 made one of the biggest announcements of the released of the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo gathered a lot of attention for the Switch, but what will be the highlight of this year's expo?
Game fans will be able to recognize big brand names such as Sony and Microsoft. But this event is opened to other popular brand names such as Square Enix, a Japanese video game publisher that brought us Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy.
But that doesn't exclude other game developers such as Ubisoft and Sega. Here's what to look forward to from some of the companies that will be attending.
Nintendo has been having a great year after the release of the Switch last year, but if you haven't got one yet, I think some of the new games for the system will push you into stores. Super Smash Bros. is confirmed to be released on the Switch alongside with another Pokemon game titled, "Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu!" and "Let's Go Eevee!"
One of the main headliners coming from Sony is the long-awaited sequel to the post-apocalyptic survival game, "The Last of Us." "The Last of Us Part II" will most likely take place a few years after the events that occurred in the first game, in which players will continue the journey of Ellie and Joel.
Square Enix has already confirmed the release of Lara Croft's new adventure in "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" and the Disney RPG favorite, "Kingdom Hearts III."
These are only a few highlights of this huge event, but more will be confirmed and revealed on the days of the expo.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the new Pokemon games. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to Pokemon and I still haven't bought a Switch yet, but this might actually be that extra push I've been waiting for. From the clips I've seen of the game, I think it's a big improvement on the development of Pokemon that I've seen as a fan for years. Amazing 3D graphics, ability to walk around with your Pokemon companion just like Ash and Pikachu from the show, and the integration of Pokemon Go app.
Make sure you don't miss out on the fun of this year's E3. For those of you don't live or can't travel to Los Angeles this summer, E3 2018 will be broadcasted and live-streamed on many platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and many more.
