9 Struggles Shy People Deal With

For the ones who are a little awkward.

Being shy is a daily struggle people deal with. You are caught in the middle of some awkward scenarios and try to rush to class every day to avoid an embarrassing moment. After all, you don't want to accidentally make a fool of yourself. So here's to all my fellow shy people out there.

1. Ordering takeout over the phone.

This is just an automatic struggle for you. Picking up the phone and dialing the number is one thing, but as soon as you hear someone say, "Hello," you find yourself instantly hanging up and praying you never have to do that again. For this reason you have a lot of friends who order food for you instead.

2. Raising your hand in class.

Raising your hand in class draws attention to you, and I mean all the attention. This rarely happens, and when it does you probably find yourself excusing yourself to run to the bathroom. It's easier because you won't be making a total fool of yourself.

3. Trying out for a sports team.

You would rather not do something that requires you to show your lack of skills. This is just an accident waiting to happen. You would rather be at home with a good book in your hands. You know what they say, there's no "I" in team.

4. Making new friends.

You can thank your social anxiety for this one. You've tried over and over to make a friend, but you often freeze in place before you can even say one word. This task is humanly impossible thanks to your shyness.

5. Having a crush on someone.

You may as well forget this one. You know before you even try that that person would never go for you. You are always liking someone you have no chance with. Sigh.

6. Getting a job interview.

This is a tough one for you. It's hard to walk into a room alone with someone you don't know and have them ask you questions about yourself. You don't usually talk to people in the first place, so this can make it hard for you to acquire a job. It puts you in too much of an awkward position.

7. Going out.

This is just too complicated for you. You would not only have to worry about what to wear, but also worry about talking to people. Sometimes you end up going with your friends just so they will shut up, but you know they will never understand.

8. Being introverted.

People don't understand you need time alone to recharge. They are always inviting you out, but your shyness always gets the best of you.

9. College dorm life.

You always have people who show up in your room unnecessarily, and prevent you from having any privacy. You can't even pee alone without someone in the stall next to you making every second stressful.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
