9 Life Lessons From My Momma That Everyone Should Learn

Everyone deserves a momma that teaches them as much as mine did me.

Throughout my life so far my mother has played the biggest role in my life. She has taught me many lessons that I will use throughout my life. I am so thankful to have a mom that I can look up to so much. The lessons she taught me will get me through life and make me the better person throughout. She is my hero and here are some things she taught me that I think a lot of girls need to hear/learn.

1. Always tell the truth

One of the best qualities someone can have is trustworthy and being honest. Once you lie you will have to come up with a lie to cover a lie, telling the truth is much less anxiety.

2. Be who you want to be

Seek to be exactly who you want to be, be someone you would want to be friends with. Find out who you want to be and be just that

3. Do what makes you happy

Never be anything but happy. Do whatever is going to make you happy regardless of everyone's opinion. Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

4. Make your own decisions

Don't let others influence your decisions. Do what you want to do otherwise it probably isn't going to be the right decision or make you happy.

5. Relationships are supposed to be friendships not ownerships

When in a relationship they are supposed to be your partner, your best friend not someone who controls your every move

6. You need to be selfish sometimes

There is no way you can always please everyone. In important situations sometimes you need to put yourself first and make sure you are happy before trying to make everyone else happy. You are the only one who is always going to be there.

7. Always be kind

There is too much hate this world already for everyone to be mean. Treat others how you want to be treated and the good usually comes back to you. You never know what someone else is going through so don't add to their bad day. Be kind.

8. Always chase your dreams

In this world everything is possible, it might not always happen right away but if you work hard enough for it, it is bound to happen. You might fail at first but at least you know you tried your hardest.

9. Life is too short to be anything but happy

Do the things you need to do but always make sure you are happy while doing them. You never know how much time you have and there is no reason to live this life unhappy. Whatever it is that you are doing just make sure over everything, you are happy.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
