Have you ever listened to an album by your favorite artist and though, "Hmm, this would be an amazing musical!" No? Well I have and here are my top choices for albums that need to be made into musicals.
1. 25 by Adele
Adele is a beautiful soul and each of her songs has such a deep meaning that is necessary for a musical. If I were to decide how this one would go I would have it be an older woman looking back on all of her past loves and each song or two is associated with one past love.
2. Lemonade by Beyoncé
Beyoncé is just a pure boss and I feel like any musical incorporating her music would be good no matter what the plot line.
3. 'Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds
This musical would be upbeat and electric feeling. The biggest song of the show would be "How to be a Heartbreaker", where the main character will be taught how to trick the guy who has been ignoring her her whole life. How the rest of the show would go, I have no clue.
4. Know-It-All by Alessia Cara
This show would almost be a "Rent" of our generation, even though "Rent" is the "Rent" of our generation. But I digress. Alessia's music has such a powerful message behind so many of her songs that a musical using her songs would probably need just as powerful of a message.
5. One of the Boys by Katy Perry
I just really love Katy Perry and I think a musical based off of this album and a mixture of her others would be amazing and fun and free-wheeling and just pure awesomeness.
6. Badlands by Halsey
This show would be the story of four different peoples lives, two men and two women. They would tell their stories through word and song while other actors act out the scenes, almost like a narrator standing to the side of the stage.
7. Death of a Bachelor by Panic! at the Disco
Brendon Urie has always said he is theatrical in his music writing and I think if he worked hard enough he could write a badass musical that is nothing like you have ever seen before.
8. The Boy Who Knew Too Much by MIKA
MIKA has such theatrical music that to make a musical out of his album(s) would be stupid. He has such upbeat and happy music with just the right amount of slow music that a musical based off of his work would be spectacular.
9. Hello My Name Is... by Bridgit Mendler
The plot of this musical would be about a couple (gender and sexuality not important) and how their relationship flourished over four seasons different seasons within one year.
Do you have any albums you would want to see be turned into a musical or think could make a good musical? Let me know!
