If you are a night owl, then you probably find yourself awake at ungodly hours of the night with little desire to sleep. Despite telling yourself night after night that you will be in bed by midnight, you just cannot get yourself to stop watching the next episode of your favorite television show on Netflix. If this sounds familiar, here are some of the signs that you are a night owl:
1. When midnight hits, you suddenly become the most productive version of yourself, because anything beats going to bed.
All those things that I promised myself I was going to do during the day turns into my excuse to avoid sleep at night. Messy closet? I'm going to clean it... but better yet, why not organize by color while I'm at it.
2. You start overthinking every single thing you did that day.
Man, that one time that I tripped was SO embarrassing. Before you know it, you start overthinking things from two months ago that people don't even remember.
3. You constantly procrastinate because you know that you produce your best work at 2 a.m.
What can I say? I work well under pressure.
4. You sleep as late as you possibly can in the morning.
You consistently wake up as late as you can possibly afford given your responsibilities. If I do not have anything to do that day, you better believe I won't set an alarm and will probably sleep until noon.
5. Late night food runs become a consistent thing.
In particular, ice cream. I swear, ice cream tastes better at late hours of the night.
6. You befriend other night owls.
It becomes even easier to stay up until 3 a.m. when your friends are doing it with you. Bored at 3 a.m.? FaceTime has got your back.
7. You spend WAY too much money.
Online shopping and boredom are a very dangerous combination for night owls.
8. You struggle to make it your morning classes.
I had a 9:30 a.m. class that I skipped more than I attended.
9. So, you will intentionally schedule classes that agree with your night owl habits.
I do not care how much I want to take a class. If it is an 8 a.m. class, I will not take it.
10. On the bright side, though, being a night owl makes for some really fun nights.
So, who's the real winner?
