When someone hears that what is the first that comes to mind? Is it the girl who is always willing to help everyone but feels unappreciated? Is it the girl who can be easy manipulated and taken advantage of unknowingly? Or is it the girl that is just that friendly no matter what the circumstance and just wants everyone to feel loved?
The answer can be all of the above. This is a tribute to the nice girls who feel as if they aren't up to society's standards.
All nice girls want is to please people and make others happy. From day one, it starts from making our parents happy, never causing them any trouble, and obeying the rules without any question. From the time we go to school, it is about making friends and making those friendships last, doing all our classwork, listening to teachers, and getting good grades.
Yet somehow in between, people take advantage of the niceness. Friends make us do favors because we never say no and, in extreme cases, take advantage of the friendship until that friendship is terminated. Peers copy our work because they tell us we are smarter than them or because "they didn't have the time" to do the work.
Later on, it leads to hoping others will like and accept you. It's a blessing and a curse to be known as the nice girl. Everyone likes you but doesn't seem to see the true value you possess.
To put it simply, you don't deserve to be treated that way.
Nice girls have always been portrayed as the shy quiet girl who almost never speaks up and just sits there and as the girl who does whatever anyone says. Where did that persona come from? I don't have the answer but, for some reason, girls truly feel like they are that person and it can be hard to break out of that box they have been placed in, whether by themselves or others. It is not a crime to be friendly, it is how we are raised, our manners and personalities, and not something that can be changed overnight.
You are more than just nice. You are powerful. You are intelligent, and, most importantly, you deserve nothing but the best.
In the end we will rise to the top and won't let anyone else get in the way. We are not blind just because we make a few mistakes or because not so good people have taken advantage of us in the past. That will only make us stronger even if we do not see it right now. We grow up and see the errors of the past, learn and move on. We only hope not to repeat that process again.
We deserve to let our hair down and let loose to whatever we define as "let loose." We deserve to know that people see us for who we are and appreciate us. We deserve to have our own time to ourselves and not care for what others may think. We deserve to say no, even though we still want to be seen as a good person. We deserve more than what we can imagine.
The world is ours, and we are a force to be reckoned with. People who have done us wrong will regret it when they see us shine in the spotlight. We can spoil ourselves if we want to, we can act like a"brat" every once in a while. No one can stop us.
We are more than just "nice girls." We are girls who are nice but also have a lot going for ourselves.
