See which team is due for a big upset this week

NFL Week One Predictions
https://pixy.org/488913/

The highly anticipated week one of the NFL season finally got kicked off last Thursday. The defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 34-20. Andy Reid's offense showing no signs of slowing down. And Bill O'Brien's Texans missing star wideout De'Andre Hopkins a little more than the might think.

Hopkins, along with a 2021 fourth-round pick was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason. In return, the Texans received running back David Johnson, and 2020 second-round pick, and a 2021 fourth-round pick.

How will other blockbuster trades affect the NFL in week one and beyond, we do not know now, but we can have fun making an educated guess and seeing if we are right.

My guesses will include who I believe will win or lose, along with which betting line I would take if I was able to gamble in Las Vegas.

1 P.M EST/10 MST Games

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens (-7)

To kick off my predictions we have the Browns heading to M&T Bank Stadium to take on the Ravens. This game will be tough for both sides. The Browns have to worry about contained NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, while Baltimore needs to worry about stoping the Browns' two-headed backfield of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Last year Nick Chubb rushed for 165 yards on 20 attempts while adding three touchdowns to the mix to lead the Browns to a 40-25 victory. However, with a new coach and question marks on defense, I find it difficult for the Browns to repeat what they did last year. Baltimore wins 34-28, and I will take the +7 on the Browns.

Seattle Seahawks (-1.5) @ Atlanta Falcons

Seattle fans were ecstatic this offseason when they acquired former New York Jets safety, Jamal Adams. However, it came with a price, and that price was hefty. Seattle gave New York two first-round picks in 2021 and 2022, a 2021 third-round pick, and safety Bradley McDougald. The Falcons' acquisition of former Georgia and Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley came as a surprise to many. Both Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson are experienced quarterbacks in the NFL, and both have experienced coaching in Pete Caroll and Dan Quinn. I believe that Russell Wilson will get the better of the Falcons' defense and get the victory on the road. Seahawks win 28-24, and I will take the -1.5 on the Seahawks.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills (-6.5)

W ith the subtraction of pro-bowler Jamal Adams, the Jets will need to rely on third-year quarterback Sam Darnold more than ever. To help Darnold, the Jets drafted tackle Mekhi Becton in the first-round and wide receiver Denzel Mims in the third-round. However, the Jets defense lacks talent across the board and will be a big weakness for the team moving forward. Buffalo had a great year last year making it to the wild card round of the playoffs but ultimately losing to the Texans. Buffalo made a blockbuster trade of their own, acquiring wide reciver Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings this offseason for a litany of draft picks. Quarterback Josh Allen looks to take an even bigger step this year and prove he can be a franchise quarterback. With a solid Buffalo defense and a potential deadly offense, I see Buffalo beating the Jets with ease 31-10. I will happily take the Bills -6.5.

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions (-3)

Chicago had a questionable offseason, drafting tight end Cole Kmet out of Notre Dame in the second round along with former Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson. The Bears' biggest move was acquiring former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars. This questions many fans around the league as the Bears already have quarterback Mitchell Trubisky on their roster. Detroit looks to have a bounce-back year after quarterback Matthew Stafford went down with a season-ending injury last year. Wide receiver Kenny Golladay is doubtful for the game, which will give Marvin Jones Jr an even bigger role in the offense, alongside running backs Kerryon Johnson and rookie D'Andre Swift. Despite Trubisky's questionable play last year, I believe the Bear's defense lead by edge rusher Khalil Mack and safety Eddie Jackson will hold off the Lions offense enough for the victory. Bears win 17-14, and I will take +3 points on the Bears.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots (-7)

With the future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady leaving New England for Tampa Bay in the offseason, many questions surrounded Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Many speculated who would be the starting quarterback in Foxborough. Former NFL MVP Cam Newton signed with the Patriots late in the offseason to give Patriots' fan a reason to hope this season. Miami Dolphins had three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft and managed to bring in quarterback Tua Tagavailoa, tackle Austin Jackson, and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene. Despite the young talent on the Dolphins' roster, they will need more time to grow and develop under Brian Flores. Patriots win 24-7, and I will take the Patriots -7.

Philadelphia Eagles (-5) @ Washington Football Team

Tremendous speculation surrounded the Football Team's organization this summer. As questions about owner Daniel Snyder were brought up in the national media. Many minority owners attempted to sell their share of the team. Despite the rumors, Washington still managed to draft defensive end Chase Young with the second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. Washington also traded pro-bowl tackle Trent Williams to the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason. With quarterback Dwayne Haskins now fully at the helm in Washington, we will see what he is capable of. The Eagles brought back Jason Peters to aid their offensive line after guard Brandon Brooks tore his Achilles and is out for the season. Quarterback Carson Wentz will look to return to his 2018 form and lead the Eagles to the playoffs once again. Eagles will win this one 24-14, and the Eagles -5 will be a tight one.

Las Vegas Raiders (-2.5) @ Carolina Panthers

The Las Vegas Raiders had an interesting draft, taking wide reciver Henry Ruggs III as the first receiver in the draft along with cornerback Damon Arnette. Both of these picks were seen as reaches by many draft experts, but it's not all shocking news in Vegas. The Raiders signed former Rams linebacker Cory Littleton signed in the offseason to anchor a young defense. The tv duo of Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock will look to take a big step in 2020. Carolina lost its best player when linebacker Luke Kuechly surprisingly retired this offseason. New head coach Matt Rhule will look to lead a solid offense of Christain McCaffrey, D.J Moore, and newly signed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Rhule and his team took not one offensive player in the 2020 draft to help a defense that lost who many believed was the best linebacker in football. I see this as a close game but Jon Gruden's experience will shine through as the Raiders will defeat the Panthers 20-17. And I will take the raiders -2.5 on the day.

Indianapolis Colts (-7.5) @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in full tank mode as they traded away defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings, cut former first-round pick Leonard Fournette, and traded away safety Ronnie Harrison to the Cleveland Browns. The Jaguars will be led by Gardner Minshew and D.J Chark on offense, and with rookie C.J Henderson being the new number one cornerback in Duval. Indianapolis signed former Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers to be a one-year gap quarterback as the Colts believe they can still compete. With rookies playmakers, Johnathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr added to the offense the Colts will give their young talent a chance to shine. The Colts will take this one 28-10, and -7.5 looks pretty good to take.

4:05 EST/1:05 MST Games

Los Angeles Chargers (-3) @ Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow will step into the starting role in Cincinnati, as the Bengals look to compete in the difficult AFC North division this year. The biggest question for the Bengals is their offensive line, former first-round pick Jonah Williams will finally take a snap in the NFL. The weapons are there for Burrow on offense, but with Geno Atkins ruled out for week one, it'll be more difficult for the Bengals than it could be. The Charges will start the year with Tyrod Taylor as they develop rookie quarterback Justin Herbert in the background. This is a similar situation to what Taylor saw in Cleveland with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Probowl safety Derwin James was put on IR with a knee injury, ending his year. The rest of the Chargers' defense will need to step up for the rest of the year in absence of James. I see this being a close game up ultimately Los Angels will come away with a narrow victory 27-24. I believe this game will be a scratch.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints (-3.5)

This game will feature newly acquired quarterback Tom Brady on his new team matched up against Drew Bress. The Buccaneers bolstered an already decent offense with running back Leonard Fournette, rookie tackle Tristan Wirfs, and tight end Rob Gronkowski. This could be the best offense in the league with Brady at the helm. But don't count out Bress and the Saints. Lead by Michael Thomas and newly extended Alvin Kamara, this game will be won by the defense. Which side will be able to stop the future hall of fame quarterback? This is will be the highest-scoring game of the week, as Tampa Bay will defeat the New Orleans 38-35. Give me the Buccaneers +3.5 on the day.

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers (-7)

Coming off a loss in Super Bowl LIV, the 49ers will look to regroup and make another run at the title. The 49ers added two highly-rated rookies to their team. One in the form of defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw out of South Carolina and one on offense in wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk out of Arizona State. The 49ers run game will be the prominent focus of the team as wide receiver Deebo Samuel was placed on IR with a broken foot. The Arizona Cardinals could be the surprise team of the year after acquiring wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Houston Texans. The Cardinals added some much-needed help to their defense drafting hybrid player Isaiah Simmons in the first round. The Cardinals also gave starting safety Budda Baker a four-year deal worth up to 59 million dollars. With injuries to the 49ers and a revamped Cardinals team, I'll pick the Cardinals to upset the 49ers 31-23. And taking the +7 on the Cardinals will be even sweeter.

Sunday Night Football 8:20 EST/5:20 MST

Dallas Cowboys (-2) @ Los Angeles Rams

With a new stadium and new uniforms, the Rams look to return to their 2018 selves and compete in an extremely tough NFC West division. Head Coach Sean McVay will look to implement a "running back by committee" system to start the season. Quarterback Jared Goff will need to take another step forward if the Rams look to get into the playoffs. The Cowboys on the other token had a very productive offseason. Resigning wide receiver Amari Cooper, franchise tagging quarterback Dak Prescott, and acquiring defensive end Everson Griffen from the Minnesota Vikings. The Cowboys also signed, then cut defensive tackle Gerald McCoy after McCoy re-injured his quad muscle. Along with losing McCoy, the Cowboys lost Byron Jones to the Miami Dolphins in free agency. This will be a great game to watch on Sunday night, but I'll take the Cowboys winning 28-20. I'll take the -2 on the Cowboys with ease.

7:15 EST/4:15 MST

Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5) @ New York Giants

With Ben Roethlisberger coming back after a season ending elbow surgery, Steelers fans are understandably excited for the season to begin. After an injury-riddled 2019 season saw their top three offensive pieces play sporadically or not play at all. The Steelers defense was and will be the focal point of the team this year. The Steelers defense created twenty turnovers last season, which was second-most in the league. The New York Giants will begin their first season without Eli Manning in over a decade. Daniel Jones will have the reigns to the offense this year, along with new head coach Joe Judge. Former first-round pick DeAndre Baker was released from the team after he was brought up on armed robbery charges. To replace Baker, the Giants signed former Tennessee Titan cornerback Logan Ryan. The Giants will rely heavily on Saquon Barkley and the run game to aid a lacking receiving core. Look for Saquon Barkley to have a great year in both regular stats and fantasy football. This will should be an easy win for the Steelers, as they'll win 27-12. I'll take the Steelers -5.5 for the game.

10:10 EST/7:10 MST

Tennessee Titans (-3) vs Denver Broncos

Coming off a Cinderella run in the playoff, the Titans look to repeat their success in the regular season. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was signed to an extension in the offseason and star running back Derrick Henry was also signed to an extension this the offseason. The Titans however lost cornerback Logan Ryan to the Giants and right tackle Jack Conklin who signed with the Cleveland Browns in free agency. Second-year wide receiver A.J Brown will be Tannehill's number one target down the field. The Titans also signed edge rusher and former number one pick Jadeveon Clowney to the team very recently. Denver just lost their best pass rusher, the former second overall pick, and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller to an ankle injury that could end his season. Quarterback Drew Lock will be given the keys to an offense featuring wide receivers Courtland Sutton and rookie Jerry Jeudy, Melvin Gordon, and tight end Noah Fant. Without Miller, the Broncos' defense will need to take a step up in the absence of the stud pass rusher. I believe Tennessee will come away with the victory but it will be a close game 24-23. I'll take the Broncos +3 on the night.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

11 Signs You Grew Up In Hauppauge, NY

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
