There is an artist out there that many people have not heard of. His name is Nate Feuerstein, he goes by NF. NF is a hip hop rapper and singer who digs deep to write his songs. There is an obvious deep emotional connection within his songs. I speak highly of NF to other people and almost everyone I speak to has no idea who he is. He is signed under a christian label and thus gets thrust into the category of Christian Rap which will automatically turn some people away. Nate does not write like the stereotypical Christian artist, there are no vague struggles showing up in his songs. His songs are influenced by God and mentions him in his songs. He writes to everyone for numerous reasons. Nate is able to transform his personal life and problems into amazing songs. A lot of rappers now a days do not write in such a way that has meaning. I know some artists have their deep songs, but compared to NF they do not come close. Nate is ahead of the game.
NF's first album is called "Mansion" and it has some of the most heart pounding lyrics. In the song "Mansion" he describes his emotional and personal struggles as his mind in the form of a mansion with his issues and lyrics written on the walls. Through the music the last lyrics sticks out the most to me "Is that me or the fear talking? I don't know anymore". When I first heard the song, I felt limp because of how much that one song impacted me. Nate does not put blame on others, he takes responsibility and acknowledges circumstances in his life that have affected him.
Nate's newest album "Therapy Session" continued on the same plane of greatness that "Mansion" was on. He goes even deeper in his lyrics on this album. Nate's mom died of an overdose on pills and it hit him hard. In his previous album, Nate would mention her and the event that happened, but now there is an entire song about what happened. When the song first came on, I had to sit down. I had to listen deeply as he expressed his feelings through the song. I have not heard a more emtionally charged song.
Now NF has his deep and powerful songs, but there are also fun ones that really get you motivated. Some of my personal favorites include "Grindin' (feat. Marty)", "Real", "Motivated", and "Intro". NF is the artist that people need to talk about and to spread his music like wildfire. It is hard to find someone who will give it their all on each album.
