Value Life, Respect The Flag, Work Hard — All Americans Can Agree On These Fundamentals, Right?

I don't think we need to change the fundamentals that have made this county thrive and blossom into the greatest country in the world.

Waving American flag
"We believe in the dignity of work and in the sanctity of life. We believe that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the true American way. We believe that children, like your child, should be taught to love our country, honor our history and always respect our great American flag, and we live by the words of our national motto: In God We Trust. We are fighting for every American mom and dad who want to protect this land of liberty for their precious children. We have been blessed with the greatest republic on the face of the earth." — President Donald J. Trump

Do you agree with the words above? Truly reflect on these words. Is this just a bunch of old ideologies that are outdated in application? Or is this what has made the American people leaders and our nation the most respected and admired nation in the world. However, certain groups influence the next generation by insisting that America has been a horrible place for some people and has been doing it wrong all this time, which is extremely difficult to fathom, and yet there are those who have allowed this idea to penetrate their hearts creating bitterness and division among the people of this great country.

All of our success can not be attributed to doing things "incorrectly" for centuries. As a country, we stand for freedom of speech, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and none of these things are contingent on where you came from or what you look like. These things are contingent upon character, ethics, values and the motivation and passion to succeed.

I have seen in my own environment so many that have come from circumstances with every variable working against them. Their inherent desire to succeed and live a better life than the deck they were given was achievable here in arguably the greatest nation on the planet. I will not listen to those saying there are terrible things going on in this nation and America is not as great as everyone thinks, or some of the anti-American rhetoric we have been fed most recently.

Despite whether or not you personally like the candidate occupying the presidential office and their counterparts, do you agree with this quote? Do you support the foundation that has helped America flourish? I sure do. I don't think we have been doing it wrong all this time, and I don't think we need to change the fundamentals that have made this county thrive and blossom into the greatest country in the world. Do you?

God bless the USA.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
