The current generation of gaming consoles has been without a doubt the most innovative generation of gaming to date. From powerful hardware to the integration of 4k gaming and virtual reality, the current generation of gaming consoles has provided a gaming experience that gamers never thought was possible outside the realms of PC gaming. Believe it or not, it has been close to 5 years since the current generation of gaming consoles took the gaming industry by storm and considering that every console generation lasts about 7 years, many gamers begging to look towards the next generation.
With that being said, recent rumors may be hinting that the next generation of gaming consoles will arrive sooner than anyone anticipated.
For the past year, there have been rumors that next generation of gaming consoles, particularly the PlayStation 5, will be released within the next year. These rumors have become more and frequent and according to the know, some of these rumors have been generated from sources that have been reliable in the past. With PC’s seeing major technological breakthroughs every two years, the hardware controlling this current generation of gaming consoles is technically out of date. This makes the idea that of a new generation of gaming within the next year plausible.
However, there are still a ton of games set to be released on the current generation of gaming such as “God of War”, “Spider-Man”, and “Days Gone”. This on top of the fact that the PlayStation 4 Pro is not even two years old yet make the rumors hard to believe. The Know generated an optimistic theory that some of the games that have yet to be released are going to serve as a bridge to the next generation, meaning that they will be released on both the current generation of gaming consoles as well as the next generation. Taking the fact gaming consoles have a history of having major technical issues, such as the the Xbox 360’s red ring of death and the non functional Xbox One Xs, it would be safe to assume that Sony and Microsoft will defy the rumors and take their time with the next generation of consoles to ensure a smooth launch. Even if we do see new gaming consoles, will the hardware be powerful enough to be a reasonable upgrade from the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X or will they be another money grab like many aspects of this generation of gaming.
Gamers have experienced the best the gaming consoles that gaming industry has ever seen these past five years. They have provided gamers with the firepower needed to experience Virtual Reality and 4k gaming without having to drop the skrilla on a sophisticated gaming PC rig. The rumors of the next generation of gaming consoles being released within the next year being hard to believe and plausible at the same time, gamers have no idea what to expect. If we do see a new generation of gaming with the year, is it too soon?
