In today's news, the sky is blue, grass is green and President Donald Trump's tantrums are on-par with that of a toddler's.
Following the US Court of Appeals in the Ninth Circuit's decision to block Trump's immigration ban, the president fired back on Twitter with the following: "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!"
The tweet acts as the umpteenth reminder that the current Commander-in-Chief, the leader of the free world who has access to the nuclear codes, is grossly incompetent as our president when it comes to constitutional practices. When the man who has been honored with our nation's highest seat flips the chair over and has a hissy fit each time something doesn't go his way, it's an embarrassment to the 241 years of democracy that preceded him.
What Trump and his cronies don't understand is that the judiciary can't be bought by the rhetorics supplied via Wall St. donors and "Make America Great Again" baseball caps. The judicial branch is designed to govern independently of political affiliations or party policy; the intention of the Supreme Court, and all other federal courts, is to examine the cases presented to them under the microscopic view of the U.S. Constitution. They are not supposed to make laws or to stick a wet finger in the wind to see which way the views are blowing today. Their rulings are seen as absolute simply because of the fact that they are attempting to view them in a manner that our Founding Fathers would have deemed fit.
There's a reason the court upheld your travel ban, and it has nothing to do with the "crooked media" or liberal bias. Out of the seven countries included in Trump's executive order, no Americans have been killed in terrorist attacks by immigrants from those countries since 9/11. And, while the order doesn't explicitly define itself as a Muslim ban, there is no denying the fact that it is rooted in Trump's anti-Muslim propaganda. Furthermore, the fact that Christian refugees from these seven predominantly Muslim countries would still be granted entry into the US shows the ban's true colors.
Despite what Trump may believe, freedom of religion is an American right outlined in our country that ought to be applicable to all religions, not just the ones befitting his agenda. When we start barring immigrants on the basis of religious practices, we are defiling the constitutional rights that were provided to American citizens as a protection against a centralized federal government, not a punishment.
This country doesn't need thicker borders; our president needs thicker skin.
