News Companies are Biased

Where is the truth and where is the lie?

News Companies are Biased

The news system is corrupt and we need to change it. Nothing can be trusted anymore. People on the internet come out with videos showing the full side of the stories and sometimes the news companies cut up the stories to fit their station's ideas. When we look into the past there is only one story and sometimes the stories are lies. These stories were created to make life seem better and to impress the public or royalty. This causes the past is riddled with lies and fables.

We like to believe that these stories from the past are true because they are so inspiring and want us to believe our ancestors are good people. One of the most popular lies is Pocahontas, a Native American girl who “saved” John Smith from being killed by throwing herself in front of her father Chief Powhatan. I bet you didn’t know the story of Pocahontas was told after she died in England. John Smith was also saved in a similar way in the Middle East. We like to believe this story because it showed the good of people and how great they can be. Pocahontas accomplished a lot in her life, but it doesn’t seem likely that she saved John Smith.

So the media today is very similar to this old way of falsifying information. They tell the stories that bring the news company attention and help them make money. They need to make sure there’s a good and evil in the story, even though life isn’t always black and white. It seems that the news always needs a villain. This villain can range from the weather to a race battle. Sometimes they try to make the wrong person a hero. New stories and race can always be turned into a race battle and most of the time the stations pick a side. This can range from the picture chosen for the victim to the words used to describe the people involved. All the news sources will tell a different story based on their agenda. All the stories have different points of view and it reaches a point where people will only follow news sources that have similar views to them. The news sites remind me of a puzzle with no image to follow and it takes days to put together because someone put extra pieces in the mix.

We live in a world where the inaccuracy in media is becoming less of a problem. While some people still only trust one person for their source of news, a lot of people will research topics. People also can record events happening and people can see the event for themselves. Sometimes the video can be edited but outlets and the media to show the story they're trying to sell. The main problem now is how articles are titled. The titles truly say it all. Recently a celebrity, Gigi Hadid was assaulted and the news companies made it seem that she had attacked a fan. This is wrong and this is the exact reason we shouldn't just read one article. Everyone has a different opinion and news outlets will always be biased no matter what happens.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
