Why These Newlyweds Are Changing The Game
Marcus Johns

Marcus and Kristen Johns got married on February 18th, 2017. Marcus Johns started up his following as a Vine star, and is now getting serious about his YouTube career. Along the way, he was introduced by his sister to Kristin Lauria at church. Kristin debuted on Marcus' YouTube channel in a Q & A, and with the encouragement of Marcus' following, Kristin made her own channel, which is where my interest began.

When she first started posting videos, Kristin was a sweet, light-hearted, and high-pitched sweetheart. She openly talked about Jesus on her channel and was open with her followers about her long distance relationship struggles and spiritual weaknesses, which include comparison, and pride. Her videos were both aesthetically pleasing and soul pleasing. She was a breath of fresh air to YouTube. And because Marcus was so popular at the time, she was recognized remarkably.

Here's some reasons why these two are changing the game in relationships and marriage for young people:

They endured the long distance.

While Marcus was working in LA for a while, Kristin was still pursuing her degree at Florida State University. Their relationship was filled with tearful goodbyes and joyous hellos, but it never kept them from pursuing each other.

She makes him laugh.

Marcus says in one of his videos that "Kristin is the only one who can make me laugh period".

They go on adventures together.

Kristin is always down to explore with Marcus. They go mudding and frolicking through sunflower fields as much as they can.

Their engagement was precious as ever.

Marcus proposed to Kristin on their last day in Italy at sunset. And can we just talk about this caption? A man who never loses sight of God even in his highest moments.

Kristin is just about the cutest thing we ever did see.

We're in Switzerland right now and I could cry at how beautiful it is 😭🙌🏼🌸 I met a real Swiss cow!!!

She appreciates the little flowers and all of God's creatures. I often have to pray about comparison when I scroll through her Instagram page.

They had a beautiful wedding.

Our wedding pictures in & they are taking me right back to the best day of my life 💛 Wow I love you Marcus

Marcus and Kristin decided not to announce the date of their wedding to social media, so when they surprised us with beautiful photos of their special day, we just about burst with love and excitement.

They waited until their wedding night.

Marcus says, although he doesn't know how he pulled it off, that he and Kristin waited until their wedding night to "become one". They stayed true to their covenant with God through their relationship and marriage.

And all I have to say to that is well done. Marcus and Kristin are a wonderful example of two young people chasing after God's heart, and striving to glorify Him in their relationship. I pray that teenagers and young adults will see this marriage and admire it and its value. These two give me hope that pursuing God in relationships is not doomed in this world quite yet.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
