You've graduated, and you're ready to start the next chapter in your life called college. Moving away from home, friends, and family can be exciting and scary at the same time. In this next chapter, you will learn so much about yourself and the people that you surround yourself with daily. Here are some tips on making your freshman year of college the best one yet:
Look at things from a bigger perspective. Little things such as stressing out over an assignment, worrying about what to wear, or not being able to decide on a major are all very short-sighted problems that won't matter as much when you look at them in a different perspective. Don't spend your time worrying about the unnecessary things that comes with college. Ask yourself this question: Will this matter a year from now?
Get involved. I can't stress this enough! If you don't get involved with some type of organization such as intramural sports, Greek life, or prayer club, you will regret it. I have met my very best friends by getting involved with organizations, and I have learned so much. Getting involved keeps you busy and active on your campus. Don't let your freshman year fly by with you just going to class and sitting in your dorm. Get involved!
Find a community of people that love Jesus. This will be the most valuable part of your college years. Finding a weekly bible study, a mentor, and a church is the best advice I can give you for this new chapter in your life. It is so easy to conform to the "normal" stereotypical college kid, so I'm telling you now do not become another statistic. I have seen the love of Jesus spread throughout my organizations, and I want that for you too. Being in college can be emotionally draining at times, but I promise if you dig into the Word, and have friends as accountability partners, you will succeed.
Get ready to make lifetime friendships. College is where you'll meet the people who will be in your wedding. You will find your most cherished friendships here. I know I have. College friends truly become your family. You will hold these friends close to your heart forever.
Study. Find a good, quiet place to study. My quiet place was always on the third floor of the library. Talk to your professors, and get to know them. At the end of the semester, they may be able to make that high B an A if they know you are a hardworking student. Make friends in your classes, and study with them. This will be extremely helpful incase you miss any class.
Get ready because these will be the best years of your life!!
