There are SO many articles out there about New York, but I have to write about my experience as it was my first time traveling to the well-known city; a dream I've had for a long, long time.
To start off, it's so easy to feel alone in New York despite all the people, but I adapted quickly. My family and I did all the touristy things like visiting the Empire State Building and seeing the Statue of Liberty, but those are things you really need to there (other than shopping, the shopping is amazing)
The food. I could go on and on about the food. New York has so many options to choose from that my family had trouble deciding where to go for dinner every night. Whether you go to Hell's Kitchen or Chinatown, everything tastes so authentic. They also weren't lying when they said New York has the best pizza and cheesecake.
My favorite part about my 5-day trip to the city was going to the Today Show and touring NBC Studios. As a Broadcast Journalism major, It was so cool to see how it all works. It made me so excited for my future and what it holds for me.
Another thing I appreciate about New York is the customer service. This may be a small thing to some, but customer service can make or break a trip for others. My family and I stayed at the Kimpton Muse Hotel in the heart of Times Square and I'm so glad we stayed there instead of a major hotel chain. The hotel was small and boutiquey, resulting in the employees willing to help you with anything you needed. But it wasn't just the hotel that had great customer service, it was everywhere! All the stores, restaurants, hotels and Broadway actors have people who work extremely hard at whatever they do; a trait that many others need to pick up on.
I visited everywhere from the financial district to the Upper East Side and nothing was short of extraordinary. All in all, a trip to New York is a definitely one everyone should take. It's an experience you won't forget, especially if you love the city like me.
