New Years Resolutions We Should All Have

We all make New Year's resolutions every year. Often they aren't achievable or we just know we won't actually keep up with our resolutions. I think it's time for some resolutions that we can and should have. So here is my list of New Year's Resolutions for you.

1. Resolve to RESPECT yourself more.

You are an amazing human. Yes we all have room for improvement, but you are great the way you are. For 2017, resolve to stop putting yourself down and start building yourself up. Stop apologizing for everything and say thank you instead. Instead of saying I'm sorry I messed up say Thank you for giving me the ability to learn from my mistakes. Be nice to yourself. Stop saying I can'tand start saying I CAN.

They say it's what on the inside that counts and that's true, but you also have to feel good about your outside. So If you feel like you aren't attractive do something about it. Make time to workout more and eat healthier. Don't do a crash diet or a diet in general; just make wiser decisions. Eating healthy comes one decision at a time and working out can be fun you just have to find the right type of exercise for you. Even if you do feel good about yourself make sure to eat healthy and workout. Treat your body with respect so that you can do what you want with it.

2. Resolve to live your life with kindness.

For 2017, resolve to live with kindness. Treat those around you with respect because they deserve it. It doesn't matter if they are being unkind or rude or disrespectful. You need to be the bigger person and spread kindness. Kindness is free and there isn't enough kindness in the world. Aesop says that No Act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. That is the truth. So this year show some kindness. Give money to charity or do charitable work. Donate your old shoes, clothing items and household items to those in need. Help out someone that is struggling. Show compassion when someone angers you. Remember to be kind always. Let's make the world a place we want to live in.

3. Resolve to take life less seriously.

For 2017, resolve to give yourself a break. Life is about the journey not the destination, so enjoy the journey. Stop worrying about what makes other people happy and start worrying about what makes you happy. Make sure work or school isn't everything and you have time for other parts of your life. Work and school are not everything. Money isn't everything. Yes we all need money in order to get the things we need, but money doesn't buy happiness. We tend to forget that. So in 2017 have more fun. In the end you are only going to regret the things you didn't do.

4. Resolve to be more thankful.

For 2017, resolve to start saying thank you. Start being thankful for the every day things you take advantage of. Be thankful that you woke up this morning because you are lucky to be living. Be thankful that you have a roof over head and food to eat. Be thankful for the people that you are lucky enough to have in your life. Your day or your week or your month might not be going your way, but you are so lucky to be living in this world. Be thankful for all the challenges in your life because they make you stronger. They show you what you are made of. Be more thankful.

Cheers to another year!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
