New Year's Resolutions As Told By Beyoncé

For some people, New Year's resolutions are a way to start off the new year with promises that it will be better than the last. For others, they are a bunch of garbage. Whichever end of the spectrum you are on, it is hard to argue that these Beyoncé quotes are anything less than perfection when it comes to thinking of the new year. These are a few New Year's resolutions as told by Beyoncé:

1. "When I'm not feeling my best I ask myself, 'What are you going to do about it?' I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me."

Take all of 2015's negativity and use that to fuel your transformation into a better you in 2016.

2. "Your self-worth is determined by you. You don't have to depend on someone telling you who you are."

Only you can decide who you are. Become that person regardless of what others think.

3. "Do what you were born to do. You just have to trust yourself."

In 2015, maybe you lost yourself. In 2016, find yourself.

4. "If you've been doing all you can and it's not happening for you, go out and have you a good old time. Put on your sexy dress and move on."

There is no shame in putting aside your work and doing something for yourself. Go ahead.

5. "Sometimes you lose, and you're never too good to lose. You're never too big to lose. You're never too smart to lose. It happens, and it happens when it needs to happen. And you have to embrace those things."

If we did not lose, we would never learn. Turn those losses into lessons.

6. "I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I only have to follow my heart and concentrate on what I want to say to the world. I run my world."

Do not be afraid to be selfish in 2016. It is time to do things for yourself.

7. "The more you mature, you realize that these imperfections make you more beautiful."

Embrace your imperfections, for they are what make you unique. Be proud to be you.

8. "Thank God I found the good in goodbye."

Say goodbye to regrets, failures, and the heartbreaks of 2015.

9. "If you live your life with kindness and giving other people great energy, that beauty and great energy come back to you."

Exert kindness and love in everything that you do, and it will find its way back to reward you.

10. "I don't like to gamble, but if there's one thing I'm willing to bet on, it's myself."

Believe in yourself... just do it.

11. "Power is not given to you, you have to take it."

Have power over school, your job or whatever challenge is presented to you.

12. "I strongly believe if you work hard, whatever you want, it will come to you. I know that's easier said than done, but keep trying."

Working hard and devoting yourself to a specific goal will allow you to achieve it, no matter how long it takes.

13. "The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence."

Confidence is the best accessory.

14. "We all have times when we lose ourselves, and it's important to have friends around who are honest with us and help keep us down-to-earth to be our real selves."

For those inevitable times when you are down and feel lost, keep the people who are most important by your side. They will lift you back up if you let them.

15. "My aspiration in life? Would be... to be happy."

Be happy in 2016.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
