Year after year we all make very similar resolutions. I can't tell you how many years I've promised myself that I was going to start running five days out of the week. Actually, a lot of the New Year's Resolutions that I commonly hear have something to do along the lines of physical appearances. Looking your best is a positive and attractive attribute to someone, but obsessing over it makes it very unhealthy. Too many people think dropping those 20 extra pounds will make them feel better about themselves. Obviously it will boost your self confidence, but will it truly fill the void in your heart that you're trying to satisfy?

Staying in touch with old friends (and new) is a great resolution to have, especially if you're in college. The friends you made in your classes more than likely will not be in the same classes as you next semester, so it's important to maintain those friendships. I've personally grown closer to people I've known for four months than I've known for 18 years.

Start saving money instead of spending it on things that you don't really need. Start a little savings jar and reach your goal amount. Go on a vacation, buy yourself a nice little black dress, or donate your savings to charity. Too many of us spend money like it's not a big deal without realizing how privileged and blessed we truly are.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and spend your free time. We spend a great amount of time trying to better ourselves. Although this is a good thing, some of the time we spend doing that we can spend trying to help others better themselves as well. When we volunteer, it truly makes us happy. Seeing a smile on someone's face after helping them is much better than any physical gift we could ever receive.

In 2017 start putting your all into everything that you do. I think most of us can agree that 2016 was a year that wasn't the happiest or the brightest for the most part. Start expressing yourself more, tell someone you love them, and make sure that everything you do, you do it to the fullest. Make 2017 a year that you'll never forget.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
