Don't Call My New Year's Resolutions Dumb
We Know Your Dreams

A new year means there will be many new resolutions. Whether it's exercising more or eating healthier, we all have something that we want to do to better improve ourselves. Many people try to stick to these new year resolutions as best as they can. Other people think it is completely ridiculous to make a resolution.

Personally, I make resolutions because there are some aspects of my life that I do want to improve. I usually do succeed with my resolutions because I write them in the front of the journal that I keep every year. I find that it is easier to keep up with something that you want to achieve by keeping a reminder somewhere you will see it every day.

I really do not think that resolutions are stupid or dumb. Yeah, it seems like everyone gives them up within the first two weeks of the new year, but there are people out there that want to keep up with their resolutions. I say more power to people who want to change their lives because the new year. A new year makes everyone excited for what the year has in store for them.

2016 was a really weird year for everyone that I know, and I am sure it was as equally weird for everyone else. I think that keeping resolutions is just a way to set goals for the new year. We all have goals we want to accomplish, and that is important to us. Because we are constantly looking for ways to improve ourselves, it is important that we keep setting multiple goals for ourselves. I do not think we have to set our resolutions in the beginning of the year. I think it is completely okay to set them any time of the year.

We are constantly changing and improving ourselves. We are human and we constantly change. Because of this, it is important to constantly keep our goals updated with our lives. That is why I think it is important for us to have resolutions at some point in the year. I can say that my resolutions or goals for the year are constantly changing because I am constantly changing. I am growing. I am learning. I think it is important to keep this in mind.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
