Coming into the new year, everybody creates a list of things that they want to change. These lists usually include the desire to lose weight, and try new things. Here is a list of practical things college students could try in order to be a better version of themselves:

1. Put yourself first.

If you don't put yourself first, then who will?

2. Don't procrastinate.

As you have probably learned in the past few years, waiting until the last minute does not always end up going that way that you had originally hoped. Stay on top of tasks and make sure to give yourself the needed time to complete the task.

3. Remember your faith.

Have you been away from the church for a while? The Lord will provide you comfort throughout the year, and the rest of your life. He will welcome you back with open arms.

4. Pet more dogs.

Some people do not appreciate how amazing dogs are. are every opportunity to pet all of the dogs that you come in contact with..

5. Go on adventures and see the world.

Put yourself out there. Don't set limits on yourself. Make a goal to see a certain amount of places, even if they're only 15 minutes from wherever you live. The world is a beautiful place.

6. Take care of yourself.

Don't burn your candle from both ends. Know when to take a break. You know your body better than anyone else. Know when you need to go to sleep or take a break.

7. Go to class and keep your grades up.

Class can be tough, but try to keep up with everything. Stay on task and attend every class. Don't let yourself create excuses for not getting the grades you originally hoped for.

8. Try new foods.

If you are anything like me, you are very hesitant to try anything that you aren't familiar with. Forget that and try something new!

9. Save money.

Don't let yourself become the typical 'broke college kid.' Think twice before getting that coffee or ordering that pizza.

10. Get organized.

With a new semester about to start, try and keep everything organized. Dorms are a small place, and things easily get thrown on the ground and forgotten about. Try to keep everything tidy!

11. Prove others wrong by accomplishing what they said "you can't do."

Don't give anyone the satisfaction of knowing that you failed. Instead, work harder than ever before to do the impossible.

12. Live, Laugh, and Love.

Live well, Laugh often, Love much.

13. Drink more water.

Make a goal of drinking as much water as you can a day! Try and cut out energy drinks, soft drinks and alcohol!

14. Be positive.

Look at things from a new perspective. Be happier. You are in charge of how you let things make you feel. Surround yourself with happy things and happy people!

15. Raise your standards and don't settle.

"Your worth surpasses all earthly things, because in the eyes of the Lord God, you are loved, and you are worth dying for, regardless of who you think you are. ... The reality is, is that you deserve someone who will give up their life for you, because you are powerful and strong and capable." -The Anima Series (Who You Are: A Message To All Women)

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
