New Year's Conflict and Resolution

Do not talk yourself out of what you really want for your New Year's Resolution

New Year's Conflict and Resolution

Once again the time has come for everyone to start making and probably not keeping a New Year's Resolution. As 2016 comes to an end and 2017 rolls around, people are talking about what they can do to better themselves for the new set of 365 days. However, the only problem that has been set and stone since the beginning of time is the fact that not everyone can actually keep to their resolution, no matter what it may be. So, maybe it is time for a little encouragement for those who cannot seem to hold their 'new lively hood' together. Let's start with somethings one may think of doing but just won't:

1. Tell your crush how you really feel.

This thought has been burning in your head since God knows when. Have you've heard the saying 'the worst they can say is no?' Well it is true. Don't let that little word stop you from speaking the truth....which brings me to point number two.

2. Don't be afraid to assess yourself.

I know hiding in this comfy shell of yours is probably the best feeling in the world, but it may be time to throw the shell away. Be the person you really want to be not what others what you to be.

3. If you wanna lose weight, then do it!

No, I am not implying that it s easy because I know that isn't. However, if you're going to try, at least stick to it. Do not do it for a month and think that it's too hard and you cannot do it and just stop. Guess what? You can do it; you just have to believe in yourself.

4. Another difficult choice is making some serious life changes.

Most think of finding a new job or moving to a new city or state or hell maybe even a new country. Many find it scary because you never know if it is going to work out. But, I just say take a risk and just try! You'll never know if you don't and no one wants to think back in life and think about all of the what ifs.

So, there are a few examples are resolutions that people 'say' they're going to do every bit of it. In that statement, the conflict also resides. It is the fact that people are saying and not actually doing. This is a point in life where actions do speak louder than words. Don't let something dangle over your head like a dark cloud because you think that you will not accomplish anything in the end. Remember that it is not up to others to push your through it, it's up to yourself to have the strength to get the things done.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
