New Year, Who's This!

Once a new year comes around, we start to have resolutions that we want to follow. As I was sitting and thinking about what I want my resolutions to be, it was clear to me that they wouldn't be about losing weight or finding love this year, but about becoming a better person. Read further to find out what my resolutions are.

1. Gratitude

One of the things we tend to forget about is being grateful. We don't thank our parents enough for sacrificing so much for us. We become little brats and complain about what we wished we could have. We don't realize that we are blessed to have what we have. Giving thanks and appreciating what you own is a big step toward growing up.

2. Self-Love

Learning to love yourself can be hard in a society that expects you to look a certain way. I realized that I need to accept myself for who I am. Comparing myself with others is not going to help me at all. On the contrary, I'm going to hate myself even more because I don’t look a certain way. Telling yourself that you’re beautiful and you don’t need anyone's validation to tell you otherwise.

3. Fakes

I feel like toxic people are everywhere nowadays, they pretend to be your friends and later leave you when you need them. Thankfully, I learned about them quickly. I was able to realize our true friendship before it carried any longer. It can be lonely not having your close friends around you anymore, but I'd rather be alone than be around people who don’t have good intentions.

4. Save money

For me, saving money does not come easy at all. Last year, I had a wake up call to save money. I learned I don’t need to buy every little thing I see. I need to start telling myself is this a want or a need. Once I can do that, my craving for shopping will be non-existent. I can focus on the things that actually matter.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
