New Year, Same You

New Year resolutions are overrated.

New Year, Same You

All I see around me I see "New Year, New me".

I wish I could say the same, but I'd be lying if I did. See to me, that's just another phrase. It has little to no value. Changes in my life will not be justified by a simple change in time.

Every year people make resolutions to help themselves have a better year. They start this resolution in the beginning of the year, and try to carry it out throughout the whole year, but most of the time their plan fails.

This article was not intended to bash on those people, I'm simply putting how I feel about "New Year Resolutions".

I do understand the concept of it being a new year so therefore new opportunities arise, and therefore people will change, but the thing is many people assume that since it is a new year they are automatically a different person.

That will never be the case. The person you left as is the same person you come in as. You can only change yourself throughout the year.

Many people say "since it's a new year I'm dropping a lot of people, and getting rid of the negativity in my life". My question to you is, why now? Why did you not drop them when you realized they were no good for you? Do not use a new year as an excuse, if you feel that people are hindering you, drop them as soon as you can. If you hold on to something for so long, you will have so many more missed opportunities.

Same goes with health issues. People say, "I'll start getting into shape this year and maintain being healthy". Once again, why now? Why could you not do that when you realized that was what you wanted?

People, please do not let a new year be the reason you change for yourself, instead do it because you want to! It feels way better in the end, and it becomes a habit to change for yourself.

Happy New Years everyone.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
