The New Year has begun. 2016 is history and 2017 is now underway. With a new year comes the classic “new year, new me” mottos and the basic “new years resolutions” everyone decides to make. Let me be the first to give a realistic set of “new years resolutions” for all those who know full well they will not be making any big changes in the New Year. Here are the honest versions of everyone’s basic resolutions.
Gym
Let’s be honest: If you went to the gym last week, you will go next week, too. The whole “let me sign up for a gym membership to start off the New Year” is crap most of the time. A different month doesn’t all of sudden make you want to go workout more.
Diet
Do you really believe you're going to change your diet? Give me the popcorn, give me the chocolate, and let’s get rolling with 2017.
Friends
The whole “reconnecting with old friends” might be a nice thought, but you didn’t put your phone down in 2016 and never gave them a call, so are you really going to do it this year? Make new friends and move on.
School
“This semester I am going to really concentrate and spend more time studying.” It’s your last semester of college, no you're not.
Sleep
The idea of getting more sleep is something I think about every day of any year. I can tell myself I will go to bed early every day, but here I am typing this article at 1 a.m. Your sleeping habits are not going to change overnight.
Save Money
Everyone wishes they could be better at saving money, but let's be honest. Those drinks start flowing and those tabs start opening.
Try New Things
What does this even mean? Honestly, you’re a poor college student. What new things are you going to try? Maybe go to a different bar this Saturday instead?
Do I hope around the world 2017 is a lot better than 2016? Absolutely. But, personally, I know I am really not changing, and neither are you.
