New Year, New Me

No better time like the new year.

New Year, New Me

Every year, right after the holidays, people start gearing up for the new year. They start thinking back to how the past year has been for them. They start reminiscing on the ups and downs that occurred in their life the past year. I know for me, I start thinking about what I want to do in the next year and what I want to change. As cliche as it is, I always think new year, new me.

People are so quick to judge the people that say this. "You said that last year." "Why do you have to wait for a brand new year to start these things?" They are right. You should not have to wait for a completely new year to start over or change something in your life. You can change it right then and there. But I am here to tell those haters: there is no better time like a new year. There is stigma around it being a completely new year. It's the start of something new. It's something to look forward to. Be cliche and set yourself goals that you want to achieve in the new year. You have had 365 days to do things you have never done before. Now, you get to reflect on what was horrible or good in the past year. There is no better time to set new goals and do better things for a new year. Don't listen to the negative things that everyone says about it. Set those goals. Achieve those goals.

Here is my list of 2017 New Years resolutions that I hope to accomplish over this new time.

1. Spend more time studying.

2.Travel as much as possible.

3. Eat healthier.

4. Spend more time working out.

5. Do something completely out of my comfort zone.

6. Become more social

7. Make time to become more social.

8. Learn that you don't always have to please everyone.

9. Learn not to stress about every little detail (this one will be particularly hard for me).

10. Sleep more.

11. Don't take life so seriously.

In all seriousness, I really do hope to accomplish all these things in 2017. I hope we all can ring in the new year with few disappointments in ourselves and more happiness! Here's to setting realistic goals and avoiding failure! Happy New Year!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
