As we ring in the New Year and come up with our New Years resolutions, everyone seems to be so caught up in being a new person, being a new “you”.
I would beg to differ at this statement.
It’s not about being a new person; it’s about being able to reflect on the past year and everything it gave you. Most importantly, to be able to reflect on the highs and lows that came your way the past year.
It’s not about the amount of weight we need to lose, the type of food we eat or changing bad habits. It’s about being able to build upon the person you are and to positively continue to be the person you aspire to be. If it weren’t for our past, we wouldn’t be here. There would be no existence of our present-self without the past.
We must learn to accept our accomplishments and failures, and continue to love ourselves unconditionally. Each New Year means another day, another month and another year that you are here to inspire others and inspire yourself. Because with each New Year, it's not being a new you, but a greater version of yourself.
