Over the summer Kent State University decided that it needed a makeover. After the first week of classes returning students have, more than likely, noticed all of the changes Kent has made. After rebranding last spring it is no surprise that Kent would follow up by giving the campus a couple of changes.
New hub furniture.
The hub's classic brown tables and chairs have now been replaced with bright blue and yellow furniture. I'm personally not a fan of the color choice but I guess they were going for 'school spirit.' They also have added longer tables which is definitely good for those people who like to congregate in large groups in the hub. This is also going to eliminate some work on the janitorial staff. They will no longer have to rearrange the tables when these large groups leave their makeshift last super length tables.
Completely Gluten free dining hall.
Kent State University is now the first campus in America that has a completely gluten free dining hall and that is beyond fantastic. All the employees have been trained over the summer to learn proper proceeders to help keep this new advancement running smoothly. Stop by the Prentice Cafe for your gluten free meals. And for all of you Prentice/Dunbar/Verder residents who don't have a gluten allergy have fun walking to Eastway for all of your Gluten needs.
A little more parking.
Parking will forever be one of Kent State's biggest issues and there is nothing we can do about it. Our university is growing every year and there is no way that Kent can estimate how many students will be enrolling and there is no way they can just magically come up with parking spots for everyone we only have so much land. Kent is trying and I appreciate this.
Addition to Greek life.
As of last spring, the greek community will gain a new organization this fall semester. We will be welcoming Sigma Delta Tau as our eighth Panhellenic sorority on campus. They will begin informally recruiting their charter class right after formal recruitment. So excited to see what this new organization will bring to our campus and our greek community here at Kent State.
