Personally, I have never really been into setting new year resolutions. I tried them once and I find that, like most people, I tend to forget about them after a few weeks. It's just something that does not work for me.
However, I do want to enter 2017 with a new mindset. I don't have individualized "resolutions" for this. Instead, I want to change the way I think about things. It's time to have a healthier mindset.

I want to look at things with a more positive outlook. I want to find the positive side of every bad situation. I don't want to allow bad situations to bring out the worst in me. I want to see the good in every situation.
I want to renew my faith in humanity. It's easy to joke and say that "I've lost all faith in humanity" but in reality, there is a lot of good out there. Bad people tend to overshadow the good people, but I refuse to let them alter my faith in humanity any longer.
I want to take better care of myself. It's easy to wear myself out by trying to achieve so many things all at once, especially during the semester. I need to learn to take things one step at a time and to stop stressing over every little thing.
I also want to do more for others. Every small thing that you do for someone can make a big impact. You do not necessarily need to go way out of your way to help someone. You never know what may brighten their day.
I want to remind myself that a bad day does not mean a bad life. Bad days are going to happen. We all have them and there is absolutely nothing we can do to prevent them. I have them quite frequently and all I want to is to crawl in my bed and sleep the day away. But I can't allow myself to sleep my life away. One bad day is out-shadowed by ten good ones.
This is my version of the "new year, new me" posts that tend to clog social media during this time of year. I give major props to the people who can set new year resolutions and actually stick to them. For myself, all I hope for is to have a healthier mindset as we enter in to the new year.
