This New Year, I am not going to be making resolutions that I'll promise to keep, and then completely forget about. Here are the resolutions I won't be making this year, and what I am going to promise instead.
1. Working Out.
I'm not one for working out, and the last time I did, I found out I had an extra bone in my foot and was in massive pain for two years. Instead, I'll walk to the meeting across campus and go the long way to class sometimes. I won't always choose vegging out on the couch.
2. Dieting.
Let's face it. I like french fries and chicken nuggets way more than I should. Instead of going on a diet, I'll grab a yogurt instead of ice cream sometimes, or choose baked chips instead of regular. Small changes are a good place to start.
3. Becoming an Extrovert.
So often, people look at those that have the gift of constant smiling and being able to talk to anyone and everyone with ease, and they feel envious. They want to be someone that others think about as a popular and widely loved individual. As an introvert, I have often seen these gifted people and wondered what magic they possess. This year, I will strive to appreciate my own gifts. I may not be loved widely, but I know I'll be loved deeply.
As we start 2017, let's try to make promises we can keep and love ourselves for who we are. Happy New Year!
