New Year But Same Old Resolutions

Admit it, it's time for some changes

A new year means whipping out the pen and paper and writing down a list of all the things you plan to accomplish with the new year only hours away.

But the one thing that we never want to bring up is how we always use the same resolutions because usually they never get done.

So as I'm pulling together the lists of new years resolutions from years past (yes, I save all of them to laugh at myself for not accomplishing majority of the ones on the list) I decided to write an article, to create a list, of ways to keep up with your list of resolutions.

1. Sit down and write what you want accomplished and by when

It helps to actually write your list down and tell yourself you have a deadline. If you want to accomplish it, you can't procrastinate and you feel like you owe it to yourself once you write it down and have a due date for yourself you'll feel like you're actually accomplishing something.

2. Set Reminders

For me, it always helps to have reminders everywhere. Set alarms, write it down in your planner. Know you'll hit ignore? set another with a motivational message to yourself.

3. Write it down everywhere

Be annoying with yourself. Write down what you want to accomplish everywhere and anywhere. Put it on your mirror, inside and outside of your closet.

4. Get excited

The only way you will ever get motivated is to get excited about your list. Face every day with a smile, and tell yourself you can do it.

So as we stand in front of the TV, counting down what is left of 2016 and preparing for the moment the clock strikes midnight and it is the new year, remember that it may be a new year but you have the same resolutions. But this year, I have faith in you. You're going to accomplish every resolution on your list and you're going to look back a year from then and remember every little step to bring on the year after that.

Thank you 2016 for all of the ups and downs but this upcoming year is our year. It is the year that we actually accomplish our resolutions and totally kick ass.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
