This New Year, Spread Your Wings And Fly

And so, the new adventure begins.

This New Year, Spread Your Wings And Fly

A new year has stumbled upon us, and many of us are expecting so many good things to happen this year. This year has literally flown by for some and drug on for others.

This past year was a remarkable, memorable, fun and exciting year. Although some goals were not met, some disappointing things happened, some heartbreaks, and many tears. You have made it to another year, and you are OK.

We sympathize for those loved ones who could not be here to see the new year.

Personally, this year is a huge year for me. I finally graduate high school — I finally finished those 13 years of school that seemed to take forever. Then, I am making a huge move down to south Florida for college and starting nursing school.

This is a year I have personally been waiting for. So, I am so excited to see what it has in store for me.

As for others, don't lose your spark. Gain motivation to achieve those goals you have been fighting for. Be brave and take risks you never dared to take before. Be amazing!

Life will happen and unfortunately, this might be the worse year for someone. But, it is important to remember that it can't rain forever. The clouds may be dark and dull at that time, but the sun will shine at some point. Whenever that is, that frown should be turned upside down.

Always have the mindset that this year WILL be your year. But never get mad if it doesn't turn out to be your year. A year will be your year.

Stop having the mindset "new year, new me." Nobody is going to change within a day. Change happens over time. But instead, maybe try ''new year, better me." It is important to better yourself, before changing your whole self within a day.

As we look back on the year in review, many of us can name tons of accomplishments and many cannot. We obviously all had some goal we wanted to accomplish. This year set realistic goals, set goals to challenge yourself, and set something to look back on and really say "I did that."

With a promise of a fresh start, I hope you cherish all the good moments and say goodbye to all the bad ones.

I hope you step out of your comfort zone and experience things. I hope you don't forget the little things. Lastly, I hope you don't hold onto the grudges and put the past behind you.

I hope this year is one for the books, I hope this year is a hell of an amazing one, and I hope you love and cherish each day as it comes.

In conclusion, I hope you know that New Years is NOT the only time for new beginnings, all you need is a little inspiration and motivation and you can begin whenever you want.

Have a great new year, and make this one a one to remember.

"Heres to the next chapter in your life."

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
