Trend Alert: Gaps & Freckles
Fashion Gone Rogue

Trends come and go in the fashion world faster than we can seem to blink. Makeup trends are now also picking up speed with new techniques and styles. Recently I have been seeing more than ever on my twitter timeline, Instagram and makeup sites a couple things. I have been noticing that not only is the natural look in but so are freckles and gaps. I am seeing more models with gaps and people trying to put freckles on their face! Seeing these things being valued in the world of fashion I think is bringing a different perspective to freckles and gaps that are making people love the things that make them different.

As a girl with a gap, I am so excited about this movement. With beauty expectations constantly being thrown in our faces as women, I believe that a wide range of different types of women should be represented, so that we understand different types of beauty. When I was younger I was very insecure about the clearly identifiable gap in between my teeth, because it made me look different from everyone else. I desperately wanted perfectly straight teeth that were all together. I spent a lot of time looking at tutorials on youtube trying to figure out an overnight way to squeeze those front teeth together. I even begged my parents for braces, but in the end, I am happy that I did not receive them because my gap gives me personality. My gap is what separates me from a lot of people and it is not a bad thing to have. Talking about this with some people they said, “I do not know how I would look at you without a gap, because it kind of makes you, you.” My gap makes me interesting, and I have learned to love my gap and the beauty that I have been given. The fact that my once insecurity is being embraced by the modeling world, even if it is just a trend for now, is pretty awesome.

I feel the same way about the freckles trend as I do about my gap. Though I do not have freckles myself, I have a lot of friends that talk about how they either love or hate their freckles, and many say that they hate them. I think freckles also gives people personality. I think that people trying to add freckles to their face now, gives people who have freckles the good feeling of knowing that their freckles are real, natural and totally in! With spring and

summer I feel that this trend is really going to take off and be a “must have” look. So those of you with freckles out there, do not be afraid to rock them this year, because everyone else is going to try to buy what you already got!

two women enjoying confetti

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
