With the new spring semester of college beginning comes new opportunities. New opportunities to succeed and excel academically. New opportunities to make new friends. New opportunities to get involved in clubs and organizations. There is so much to do, and you definitely want to make the most out of your semester.

If this past fall semester was your first semester as a college student, this might be especially helpful. You probably had a lot of hopes and expectations coming in as a freshman this past fall. You also may have felt a little overwhelmed and like you didn't quite know what you were doing. Maybe everything went as planned or maybe you hit a few bumps along the way. It was certainly quite an adjustment, but you got through it. Hopefully, you were able to enjoy your first semester at college and your holiday break.

If this past fall semester wasn't your best for whatever reason, don't worry about it! The past is the past and this spring semester is a time to try to make it an amazing semester, if not the best one you've had yet!

So, how exactly do you plan on doing that? Well, there's no in-depth set of advice that will apply to everyone. It would definitely be a wise idea to really focus and concentrate your efforts on studying and doing well in all your courses. But life should be balanced and you can't just work for hours and hours on end only doing schoolwork and never enjoying yourself. In some of your free time, go hang out with your friends! Plan something fun that you can do together. If you like to work out and your school has a fitness center or there is one close by, take advantage of that! If you love movies and TV shows, binge a little on Netflix, Hulu, or any other way you like to watch you shows and don't feel guilty about it! If you enjoyed getting involved in certain clubs and activities during the fall semester, continue to be active in them! If you want to try a new club, organization, activity, etc. feel free to get involved. Most of the time, life and opportunity don't come hunting you down! If you want something or to be a part of something, you have to go out and make it happen! You can do it!

Hopefully, you now feel relaxed, refreshed, and ready to jump into the spring semester. Spring is a time of birth, growth, and rejuvenation. Cherish the time that you have and spend it the way you want to! No one should tell you how to live your life. You should determine what path you want to explore and how to live your life to the fullest. This is your life! Live it! Work hard, have fun, laugh, love, create, enjoy it, and make good memories!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
