A New Semester Means There Are New Opportunities Available

Whether you're a second-semester college student or a second-semester high school senior, this article applies to you. To high school seniors, enjoy this last semester. This is the one semester you can't get back, don't misuse it. Go to sporting events, support your classmates, go to pep rally, get excited for prom, for graduation, and enjoy every day. Make your second half of senior year a memorable one. To second-semester college students, whether you're a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, it's important to take each day one day at a time, focusing on that particular day. Doing this will help you to not become overwhelmed.

This semester is like any others—scary. New classes, some familiar faces, others you've never seen before. Maintain the friend groups that you identify well with. Build friendships with new individuals. Always, always work hard, put the effort in and try your best. Prioritize your work. Go to sporting events, whether it be basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, etc. thrive to support your classmates and show some school spirit. College students, get involved where you can MANAGE classes, homework, a social life, AND your mental health.

This semester can be full of so many opportunities, new lessons learned, new memories, new challenges. Take these experiences and roll with it. Whether there are hurdles obstructing your view to the finish line or not, begin this new semester with an open mind.

Personally, I have a busy semester, taking two English courses, starting my field placement for Education, maintaining my executive board positions, all while maintaining a good social life and a healthy mental state. 2019 doesn't just have to be the "new year, new me" attitude, 2019 could be the year where you make changes for the better, grow from your past, and persevere to do better.

So to all you high schoolers and college students, make the most of this semester, make smart, healthy choices and stay safe!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
