We are at a new year.
Most people relish in the fact that they can be whoever they want to be, and that they have a whole new year to become something different. "New Year, New Me." We've heard that almost too many times. Each year we set up a new goal, that for more than most of us, never comes to fruition.
So why set these "New Years Resolutions"? The truth is it's good to have goals, but to say that these need to happen within a certain time restraint is just unnecessary. Yeear after year I tell myself to make a change, for myself and for others, but the pressure can be too much. Which is why this year, I'm not going all "New Year, New Me." I'm striving instead to be the better me.
I can say that 2016 wasn't the best year, and that I want to make this new year better. But the change doesn't miraculously happen. No, I have to be the one to make it happen. And it might only be a few days into 2017, but I already have a good feeling about it. I have to, because if I'm already into the mindset that this year is going poorly, then I won't last the rest of it.
Make this year better, find the good in everything that happens. Love yourself more. Appreciate others more. Set goals, but don't let them stress you out.
Here's to 2017. Happy New Year
