"New Year, New Me"

Goodbye to 2016.

"New Year, New Me"

I will stop eating junk. I will stop dating terrible boys. I will start working out. I will go to bed earlier. I will stop being negative. I will loose weight. I will start being positive. I will be different. I will be happy. I will travel. I will work and work hard. These are the things we tell ourselves as we enter a new year. We will suddenly, with the change of a calendar, become new, and improved versions of ourselves. These resolutions may be great but all together don’t seem very fair or possible. We are human, and we will mess up, our New Years resolutions should reflect that.

For my resolutions, I will be realistic, while still looking for self-improvement. I will still eat ruffles and dip. I will be positive, but sometimes negative. I will love hard and deeply. I will try to make America kind again. I will still drink Coke. I will try to go to the gym, well, at least once a week. I will cut down on my Starbucks consumption, if possible, but I will cave when all I need in this world is a Venti Vanilla Latte with 5 shots of vanilla (oops). I will still live life. I will travel. I will probably still sometimes date these terrible boys. I will be happy with my imperfections. I will still order Insomnia Cookies at 2 a.m. I will try to be an activist and push the world to be better not just for me, but for all. I won't punish myself when I fail.

As I enter 2017 I will adopt the phrase “new year, better me”. I will not change to become unrecognizable to the girl I was in 2016, as I do often like her, but I will make a real attempt to improve. I will grow and mess up, and sometimes fall short. Cheers to the New Years.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
