From the days of my high school senior days to my final days in a community college, my job has always been a host for two years. Now this year, after my first semester at UCF, I've finally found another job and, even though this job is similar to my old hosting job, there are quite a few new, but fun, experiences.

One new experience I have is driving to give orders to the customers. Being a delivery driver is completely a new thing to me. The fact that I not only had to pack, but drive to the location that the customer had given is something entirely new. It's a little daunting because I'm driving into new areas that I don't really know much about, however, at the same time, it's an exciting experience. Seeing different ways in an area I don't know makes the adventurer in me tingle with anticipation and what new areas can I explore. One of the drawback aside from gas and mileage, is the traffic. Once rush starts, it can be very hard for any driver to navigate especially a delivery driver like myself and the traffic makes things worse, but it's worth it! Most of the customers are nice and understanding knowing what we have to go through in order to deliver their food. So, thank you to those people who know the difficulties of driver's delivering you what you ordered and are nice about it.

Another new experience that I get to see is the working environment. One of the reasons why I got my hosting job was the connections I had and I really didn't work my way into that. Now, in this new job, I had to go out and search for any restaurants that are looking to hire someone and it made me proud of it. I hardly know anyone and that's a good thing. Trying to put myself out there socially and doing something new in order to get to know my fellow co-workers is an exciting thing to do! It's a challenge, but hopefully as time goes on, I can be more open and friendlier once I get the hang of my new job. It's also very fast paced. When it gets busy the drivers to have speed it up since delivery orders come in fast. You also need to carry some cash with you just in case the customer wants to pay in cash and needs some change.

A new job for me seems to be a great thing that has happened and I'm honestly proud that I found this all on my own. Sure I'm a delivery driver but a part time job is still a job for a college kid like me and I'm thankful for the opportunity to finally get another job. Also good luck to the people looking for a job in general. It can be tough, but if you search you'll definitely find one.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
