New In Christ

The Gospel is our life purpose, yet the world looks on what the Gospel says and turns away.

New In Christ

Above it all, stand firm in the faith. Stand and walk in truth even when the world looks at you and does not understand what you are doing. The world is confused by people who live in peace and trust in God even when they cannot see Him. The world stares at people who choose the road less traveled by.

The road of faith. It's a path that not many find value in, but for those of us who do, it is our entire life. It is our whole purpose.

The Gospel is our life purpose, yet the world looks on what the Gospel says and turns away. It is sad to see their faces become dim because they do not know Him. They do not know the One that gives life.

The Earth is filled with things to glorify God, yet we twist those gifts into things to bring ourselves glory. We try and satisfy our gaping hole in our lives that was created to worship something. We are all wired to worship something, but we have to be careful as to what we do worship because only God is worth it.

Everything else that we try and stuff into that hole in our spirit leaves us empty. It may make us feel good for a time, but slowly all things on this Earth fade away. One day our school, our career, our material possessions will all be gone, and only Christ truly remains.

Eternity with Him is more vast than anything we could ever imagine, but it is only through Jesus Christ that people get to go there. Not only that, living for Jesus gets to begin sooner than death when we accept Him into our lives. The spiritual realm then comes down, and the God of the Universe is able to live inside you.

I've heard Him speak to me in times of joy, sorrow and everything in between. We are never alone if we are in Christ Jesus. He is always there and loving us even when so many times we only deserve punishment.

When we live for Christ, our whole mindset changes. Intentionality becomes more purposeful because getting to know people is not merely for selfish gain and popularity, but it's to give people a glimpse of Jesus. It's to give others the sweet aroma of Christ.

His character is so sweet and kind, yet He is so mighty. In Revelations, it speaks about Jesus eyes being like fire. He is so powerful, yet He came down to Earth for us. We could never deserve this kind of love. God left Heaven to die for us. He took the penalty of sin and shame on the cross for us so we do not have to. What a glorious thing it is to not only know about Him but also to know Him personally. As a follower of Christ, we can know Jesus personally, and He knows us so completely. He even knows us better than we know ourselves. He loves our past, present, and future self just the way we are.

He wants us to come to Him, and He wants to make us new.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
