I believe there comes a time when it's crucial to step out of your comfort zone and live outside of the opinions of others. If there is something you want or have wanted to do, but it may be different than what others think you should be doing, do it. Don't be afraid to push the boundaries a little.
You have to be willing to throw yourself out there and experience what you want from life. If you never open up to experience what you want, then you'll never know what could be out there waiting for you, even if you try something you wanted, and it turns out that you don't like it that much afterward. You still allowed yourself to experience something new.
When you are eager to learn more about life or yourself, you start to understand things better. You can put things together. You become aware of certain things that might trigger you in positive or negative ways.
You're able to control your reactions towards certain situations in life. Things that may have affected you before, are now a thing of the past. You learn to live your own life, positively.
I recently took a chance and I decided to go out with a new friend to a new place. We went to Woody's, a club and bar in Philadelphia. It was crazy to me that I even decided to go. I don't go out to places like that much, and also, I hadn't been out much with this particular friend before.
I didn't know how the night would go, but I hoped for the best and tried to keep zero expectations. I went into the night with the idea that nothing would deter me from having a good time. No matter what, I was just going to kick back and let loose. Whatever happened during the night happened.
The whole night was new in a sense. I wasn't out with my regular friend group. I went out with a guy that I have only met a handful of times. For growing up so close to Philadelphia, I never really went there much for the nightlife. I took the train and I've only been on a train a handful of times throughout life. I socialized with a few random people, but usually, I don't really try to talk to anyone random when I'm out. Lastly, I haven't been to many bars since I've turned 21 a few months ago.
I went out wanting a new experience. That is the only idea I had in my mind about the night, and that's what I got. I enjoyed just existing in the moment with new faces and places. I took a chance and I had a great time.
Could things have been different or more interesting? Yes, definitely! But that's not what it was about, to me at least. It was about trying to explore a new side of life.
Go experience something different.
