Dear My New Close Friend,

What I want you to know since we have become friends.

Dear My New Close Friend,
Cari Elana

Dear new close friend,

we do not know each others' full history, deepest secrets, or even names of the others' parents. But you're becoming a really amazing person in my life and I want to dedicate this article to thank you.

First off, you are really funny. Not the chuckle once in a while kind of funny, but the "omg you're hilarious" funny. You get me on a spiritual level and understand everything it is that makes me laugh until I cannot breathe.

Second, you and I can talk about our problems. We have only been friends for a few short months, but we're already talking about everything (or everyone) that bothers us and makes us want to scream. I go to A Cappella now not just expexting to sing, but to talk about some anit-semantic and/or ignorant person who needs to open their eyes to reality. You know I will always be there to back you up on your beliefs (and anyone you need to fight with).

Also we may not have a lot in common, but I would say singing A Capella is cool enough. I miss reading all of your articles from Odyssey, but at least we have gotten closer through something more awesome!

Thank you for being a ray of sunshine that sends joy to everyone you want it shed on to (like me). Thank you for being a crazy and lovable human. Thank you for being obsessed with astronomy and loving cute animals like I do. Thank you for being you. It's my favorite version.

You grew up in my neighboring town (which I literally border) AND we have a mutual friend. How our paths have not crossed before is beyond me, however, we are now becoming great friends and I could not ask for a better friendship.

I cannot wait to go on weird adventures, buy food, take selfies, and celebrate the most random things. I am so glad that we have gotten close and I get to spend more time with you and we get to vent about more ignorant children on Facebook. I look forward to you bringing me to the dark side and getting me into all sorts of new interests. You are an amazing, strong-minded, go-getting, fabulous human. I love you just the way you are! I cannot wait to hear more about your rants, friends, and stories through our crazy and unconventional college experiences.

So here is to you, my new close friend: I love you to the moon and back already!

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
