Never Trump

Don't forget intelligence when choosing our next president.

Have your views, your opinions, your explanations but never Trump. The most common phrase I constantly hear when discussing the 2016 election is, “Well, I’m voting for Trump because I hate Hilary.” That sentence infuriates me. Just because you don’t agree with every position Hilary Clinton has taken, or because of her “emails” or because of Benghazi, you’re going to go with Trump? Who is on another planet when it comes to reality and dignity. I get it, Hilary isn’t perfect, trust me she wasn’t my first choice either, but sadly, in this election we don’t have the choice to be picky anymore.

I don’t understand the intelligence in putting the faith of your country in a bigot, billionaire, unintelligent, narcissistic lying a**hole. Someone who is persistently in the media for going back on what he said because he was talking “figuratively" or "sarcastically.” How can people take this man serious is what I want to know. A man who has no empathy on the basic american lifestyle including the middle class and their needs. A man who believes the minimum wage is too high, while inflation rises, and wages stay flat, The man who has openly gone against the constitution by claiming if he wins, he will ban a whole religion from entering this country. A man who is laughed at by other countries for his candidacy but is supposed to act as the mediator when commander in chief with allies? The man who full strung to the heart Republicans are publicly disowning and voting for the other party instead. The man who has been in thousands of lawsuits, yes thousands. The man who if he doesn’t get his way, whines or just sues.

I understand how hard this election is for everyone, no one feels they have any choice. But think of the work Hilary Clinton has done, the policies she has been involved in enacting. Think of what she stands for. The middle class, the working American, health care, education, innovation in our capital, if Trump wins all of that will be ruined. I especially think of all the progressive policies currently in our government and how they will be destroyed, and changed if Trump is in office. Don't just think about Clinton, think about what she can do, and how she knows how to do it. She is the most qualified person who ran in this election. Think about Trump who has no intelligence on the constitution, government policies, or how to even begin running a country. It is just sad we live in a day of age where popularity comes to mind when picking the next president, people treat it like the next season of "American Idol" and no thought or effort is put into it.

So tell me, you wanna talk about morality, you wanna talk about qualification, you wanna talk about dignity? Fine, but never Trump.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
