Before reading this article, please keep in mind, it is never a victim's fault in any sort of situation. It's wrong to blame the victim for a crime someone else did against them.
Many people are viewing rape that involves some fault in the victim too. For example,
"She was probably too drunk and should've known better not to go there," "She shouldn't be outside at night alone," "Her outfit was probably too revealing," "She probably asked for it," etc.
But what about the attacker, why aren't you blaming him for everything that happened?
This happened because he decided upon his own will, and not the woman. This has nothing to do with what a woman wore or where she was. A woman should not have the need to stop herself from going somewhere or wearing some type of clothing just so other men don't get "distracted." It's never a wrong place, wrong time type of thing.
Rather, men need to be taught how to "control" themselves. And learn some manners about how a woman is supposed to be treated. If she says no, or rather if her body language even shows that she's not liking the situation, then that should mean to "back off."
Why are we not telling boys not to rape? Why are we telling women to stay cautious?
I'm guessing since society has already inherited that men are rapists, and there's nothing that we can change, so men that are rapists will just never change. The mindset of "men will always be men" is what is used for rapists. When someone later decided to take a stand, we later tend to realize it still is our fault, our fault for trying to change the victim and warning people about attackers, rather than taking action and decreasing the rise in rapists.
Will rapists stop raping women if women took major precautions?
Rapists will remain rapists until they learn to respect women. No matter how cautious a woman is, a rapist will always find a way.
We need to start pointing out how women need to be treated, the appropriate behavior a man should have towards women. Needs to be taught from the time when they are boys.
Keep in mind that it's never the victim's fault, it's the attacker that created this situation and created the rise in this problem.
