Never Trump RNC Highlights

Trump is officially the nominee, I'm not prepared.

Never Trump RNC Highlights

It is no secret that I am a #NeverTrump Republican. All you have to do is scroll through my twitter and see that I do not/will not support Donald Trump. I argue with Trumpkins about his policies often. This past week was the Republican National Convention, and a total shit show from my standpoint.

Day 1:

The talk of Day 1 was the fact that Melaina Trump plagiarized part of her speech from Michelle Obama's speech from 2008 Convention. The video shown was from CNN. The Convention lasts 96 hours, and 12 of those, this fiasco was spoken of. The other prime time speakers included: Rudy Giuliani, Jeff Sessions, and Scott Baio. National security was the theme of the night. The Anyone But Trump movement had a last ditch effort earlier in the day to attempt to keep Trump from getting the nominee, which obviously failed.

There was a movie about Benghazi, and there were people who spoke that had lost their children in drunk driving accidents, the drunk drivers happened to be undocumented migrants.

Day 2:

No more "presumptive nominee," this thing is real. Trump is the 2016 Nominee for the Republican Party. Yes, it's as scary as it sounds. There is still a pretty big piece of the pie that is unhappy about him being the nominee. (People like me, in the never Trump movement obviously.)

Tiffany Trump, daughter, spoke "well" of the softer sides of her father. She spoke of him helping his children finding their own path in the world.

Donald Trump Jr., son, had a forceful speech about Clinton and how she couldn't pass a background check. Unfortunate for him, factcheck.org shows that he distorted her gun control proposal and shows that she doesn't want to take away guns. Factcheck.org also pointed out that Jr. stated his father self funded his campaign, he only funded 73 percent of it, but not all.

Day 3:

This video was from Reflect. Ted Cruz' failure to endorse Trump was the talk of Day 3. Before that happened, Pence, Trump's running mate, fired up the crowd and introduced himself.

Trump's bashing of Kasich has left him without the state of Ohio, because the republicans of that state are currently miffed at him.

Eric Trump also gave a speech.

Day 4:

Trump formerly accepted the GOP nomination for President. In his speech, he spoke a lot of trade and immigration, much like most of his campaign. He did not tell us how he would fix anything. He did not give any actual plans. He simply said "elect me and it will happen." I do not blindly trust anyone. So much for his "leadership" if he were a leader he would have given actual plans to fix the problems and not simply said that he knows people.

In conclusion:

This convention was half empty, even during prime time hours. D-list celebrities were the people who were giving the speeches. He did not get endorsed by Cruz. He lost part of Ohio's vote by trashing Kasich. There are two speeches that dealt with plagiarism. For me to say that RNC 2016 was a shit show, was not far fetched. Let's see how the rest of this ridiculous campaign goes.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
