Why You're Never Too Old For Disney World

This year for Christmas, I was fortunate enough to spend it with my family on a trip to Disney world. I hadn't been since I was eight. I had such a good time. Our bodies hurt from power walking over 53 miles over the course of the week, We flopped down on our beds each night just flat out exhausted. Disney is many wonderful things but relaxing is not one of them. It's magical and intense and requires stamina and a drive to see absolutely everything possible.

I've heard it said many times and many ways by various people, "I wouldn't go to Disney now.", "I'm too old.", "I just don't think it would be any fun at my age." Oh busy have I got something to tell you. The fact of the matter is, Disney was created as a fun place for everyone, not just your "Toy Story" obsessed toddlers and your itty bitty princess wanna be's.

Yes, Disney films are classic and timeless but many of the featured shows, characters and attractions are modeled after characters that were created in the good old days. And by that, I mean in the childhood of today's 20 something. I for one had a wonderful time embracing all of the Disney magic that shaped my childhood. Many iconic movies were released in the early 200s, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, The Toy Story series and so many more. It's kind of like an escape from reality from being an adult for a week. If you ask me, it's a magic escape back to your VHS tapes we had to rewind over and over. Back to simpler times.

As far as the parks themselves, what's not to love? Not all the rides are tea-cups and little bumps. There is so much to enjoy from the attractions. Each roller coaster is beautifully designed with such detail. I really believe it takes someone a little bit older to really appreciate the effects and attention to detail. My personal absolute favorite is the "Avatar" ride at the Animal Kingdom, this is an absolute MUST. I won't tell you that Disney is known for the scarier death-defying ride out there. But what you have to look forward to is the experience. Don't get me wrong though, a few of the rides left my head spinning for hours.

We haven't even mentioned the food. Epcot is a world adventure circled around a big ole lake. Eat pretty much anything your heart desires. Not to mention the assortment of alcohol available. There really is something for everyone.

Your time really doesn't have to be spent waiting in long lines to meet all the characters. Seeing them can be just as fun when spotting them in a show. I feel like it's sort of not talked about but the shows at every park are better than anything you could ever imagine. It's kind of like having free broadway musicals thrown in for free with your vacation package.

Call it what you want but Disney is a place for all ages. Who doesn't want to be a kid again on some days? I know I sure do.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
