"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10
Psalm 51:10 is easily one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds me that no matter how far you think you've gone from God, He will always have the power to create a clean heart in you. In this chapter, David is crying out to God because he is so ashamed of his sin. He is broken and humble before God, really seeking change.
When your heart is broken or hurting because of what you've been through or what you're going through, don't be so hard on yourself. Call out to God because he does not despise a broken heart. (Psalm 51:17) He puts it back together piece by piece.
The God of creation is a God of not only second chances, but another chance (because sometimes we mess up the second chance too). The love that God has for us is so amazing, I can't even comprehend it. He is always ready to forgive us and forget about the things we've done, as long as we truly confess and turn from those things with no intentions of going back. We may slip up, but our hearts should be to try as hard as we possibly can to be the new creation that God made us to be. It is not an easy thing to do, and there will be times that we feel like giving up or giving in, but in those times just remember the sacrifice that Christ made for you and He loves you more than anything or anyone ever could.
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave he a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:2
You are God's masterpiece. Don't give up. You are never too far gone.
Thank you, God, for another chance and for continuing to work on my heart. I will forever be amazed by You.
