To The One I Never Thought I Would Meet

An open letter to love

The day I met you I felt a strange feeling in my body that I’d never experienced. It was like every cut, scrape, bruise, heartache, broken bone, had literately disappeared from my body. It was like I’d never felt pain before like I could never feel it again. You crashed into me like a strong but beautiful, ocean wave on a hot summer night. You had me memorized by your smile and I didn’t even know you yet.

I truly believe that everyone on this earth has somebody they are supposed to love at some point. From 1 hour to 100 years, love is never timed. I never believed this, though, until I met you. Years, I had been in this small town and I never once met you. Before you came into my life I genuinely thought that love at first sight was something that only happened in Disney movies or storybooks. You were my real life prince though and this was our story.

When you first said my name all I could think was the sound of your voice being my new favorite song. When I said your name it was like my lips were meant to move exactly like that. All of the sudden, you were my muse. My every fantasy and my deepest desire. You wanted me too, and that was the best part. I could feel the heat of your body on mine from across the room. I could feel the confidence you had in making me yours and it was beautiful. I thought you were beautiful, we were beautiful.

It took some time. Nighttime drives to clear my head; constantly lying to myself about what would make me happy, thinking that you would give up on me. And I know you almost did. I thank god every day you didn’t, because you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You know every word to say in every moment we have. You know the perfect way to kiss me and hold my hand. You know the places to touch that make me melt. You lay next to my body and fit like a puzzle piece.

I can’t promise you I will be perfect, I can’t promise that I won’t make you angry or sad sometimes but I will promise to love you. I promise to love you through the craziest storms. I will treat you with respect and always show you support in your future endeavors. I will be your best friend, your sidekick and your lover for as long as you choose to let me.

I want you to know that you are my one. You are my only.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
